Dissertation students will enroll in 9 hours of dissertation credit during the research and writing phase. During this time the student should be working closely with the dissertation chair and consult committee members as needed.
Dissertation defenses are scheduled for two hours. By university rules, such a defense is open to the university community. During this time the student and college editor will work together to prepare the text for electronic depositing on ProQuest.

Doctoral research seminars are designed in an optimized, sequential format that allow you to work extensively on your capstone topic, methodology, literature review, and research plan from the beginning of your program.
The experiences give you the time and resources to focus on your project as you build the skills and confidence required to steadily move toward your goals. Each seminar begins with an an online course , including modules, assignments, and assessments. Next in the process is an in-person residency , followed by completion of a final assessment and development of a preparation plan for your next track. When it comes to your requirements, timing is key. Your coursework builds the foundation for your seminar, and your experience at the residency will keep you on track in your program.
The two tracks are scheduled so you can create quality work and complete all tasks for each before moving on to the next one. On-time completion of the two tracks can significantly decrease your time to graduation and overall cost of your degree.

Students preparing their dissertation proposals enroll in this seminar until they have completed their proposals.
