Servant leadership is a philosophy and set of practices that enriches the lives of individuals, builds better organizations and ultimately creates a more just and caring world. For me, the writing style isn't one that pulls me in.
To be honest, I ended up skimming after I just couldn't engage with the first few chapters. So, bear that in mind, as perhaps I've missed the jewels by skimming. Most every business management book since at least when I completed my MBA has emphasized the need to transform, to embrace change, seek out change, disrupt the status quo, etc.
Many of them discuss the need for this as well as an author's perspective on how this can be achieved. I like a book that doesn't just discuss the problem but that also provides a good, working solution with explanation on how to implement as well as the rationale to support it. This didn't offer solutions, really. Rather it was just more of a discussion of the problems the usual failure to embrace change although described with different words how and why change can be so threatening to the "this is how we do it" mentality, with some anecdotes of companies who've broken the mold and done things differently.
Same overall idea regarding transformation and change just a different take and newer examples. If you're looking for a book that further lends support as to why a company or business should implement a radical change perhaps you're needing further support for a plan you've already got in the works for example then this could be great supporting material. I was looking for detailed information about a survey mentioned in the Wharton newsletter but didn't find much.

There's never been a better time for being polite and humble. Many leaders don't see this as applying to themselves. They could benefit from listening to Peshawaria. The most interesting parts for me described how organizations continue with some obsolete activities such as universal employee engagement surveys.
To the author, these things remain predicated on a sense of loyalty that expired long ago, when employers really were looking for lifetime employees and employees expected the same. Peshawaria lived and worked in many countries and sees work and industries broadly.
